Do you have algae problems? Are your sewer pipes clogged? Your toilet flush doesn't work? Does your beautiful pond/pool look disgusting and full of algae? Or are you just looking for a cool science project for your children?

We have the perfect solution for you. You could always use harmful chemicals such as Drano but such chemicals not are only harmful to humans but they end up in underground water and eventually in the ocean and caused many problems to living fish and plants. So why use them?

Copper Sulfate is a natural replacement that not only fixes your problems but also helps the environment by keeping harmful chemicals out of it. Greenway Biotech, Inc. Copper Sulfate could be used to open up your pipes, toilet, and clean up your ponds/pools and make them look beautiful again without hurting the eco-system.

Greenway Biotech, Inc. Copper Sulfate could also be used to make your own natural fungicide such as Bordeaux Mixture, which the recipe could be found under the "How To" tab.

Other popular uses of Copper Sulfate is as mordant in vegetable dyeing and to make copper crystals that are very popular for science projects in middle and high school.

Copper Sulfate is one of the most used compounds in the world and it has a wide variety of applications. Below you could find some of the most common ones; however, please keep in mind that Greenway Biotech, Inc. Copper Sulfate cannot be used for all these applications and you might need different grades of Copper Sulfate:

  • Antiseptic agent
  • In electroplating processes.
  • Antifungal agent for topical use
  • Treatment of copper deficiency
  • Curing "Proud Flesh" on Horses.
  • Etching - Copper sulfate is also used to etch zinc plates for intaglio printmaking.
  • Dyes - Copper sulfate can also be used as a mordant in vegetable dyeing. It often highlights the green tints of the specific dyes.
  • Copper sulfate is used to test blood for anemia. The blood is tested by dropping it into a solution of copper sulfate of known specific gravity.
  • Copper sulfate crystals are still used today dissolved in water in a "foot bath" for sheep to pass through as a prevention and cure for "foot rot".
  • School Projects - Growing crystals of Copper Sulfate is one of the more common science projects for middle school and high school children.
  • Copper sulfate is (was) one of the ingredients of the styptic powder, Kwik Stop, which is/was widely used to stop superficial bleeding in animals.
  • Copper sulfate can be applied to your plants before the disease starts as a preventative as well as when you begin to notice the dark spots of infection show.
  • As an additive to swimming pools to clear the water and eliminate algae. Put half a teaspoon every 10 to 15 days into the skimmer box and let the pool pump run for at least 12 hours. (You can swim right away)
  • Copper sulfate pentahydrate is a fungicide. However, some fungi are capable of adapting to elevated levels of copper ions. Mixed with lime it is called Bordeaux mixture and used to control fungus on grapes, melons, and other berries.
  • Bluestone is frequently encountered as an ingredient in mojo hands made by African-American hoodoo doctors, especially those for gamblers' luck and protection from evil. It is sometimes mentioned in old recipes for floor wash used by spiritualists to purify the home in the interest of keeping out evil spirits.
  • Copper sulfate has had widespread use over the years to control roots in sewer lines. Although most plants need a small amount of copper to survive, a high concentration of the metal can injure the roots without actually killing the plants. Introducing copper sulfate into the sewer line is an effective and easy way to increase the concentration of copper in the sewer water and kill the roots. The usual method is to pour 1 or 2 lbs. of crystals into the toilet nearest the sewer line, then flush the toilet.

Copper Sulfate as Fungicide for Tomato Plants:

1. Mix 4 teaspoons of Greenway Biotech, Inc. Copper Sulfate in 1 Gallon of water

The fungicide helps prevent blight, nailhead rust, bacterial spot, leaf mold, Anthracnose, Stemphyllum leaf spot and Septoria.

3. Repeat Copper Sulfate application every 7-10 days. (Note: you would need to apply more often in wet and humid weather.)

Note: Spray your plants on a cool and calm day. Avoid spraying on hot, windy, or rainy days.

Note: Put on pants, long-sleeved shirts, mask, and eye-goggles when spraying Copper Sulfate solution. Copper Sulfate solution could skin and eye irritations.

How to Make Bordeaux Mixture:

Bordeaux Mixture is one of the oldest fungicides known to mankind and gardeners have been using it for over 150 years. Copper Sulfate could harm the plant itself and since Copper Sulfate is mixed with Lime, it doesn't harm the plant and works as a perfect fungicide for plants.

Bordeaux Mixture Recipe:

1. Dissolve 1 pound of Hydrated Lime in 1 gallon of water.
2. Dissolve 1 pound of copper sulfate in 1 gallon of water.
3. Let the two mixtures stand overnight (or at least a few hours).
4. Add 2 cups of the hydrated lime solution to a 1-gallon sprayer.
5. Add 2 cups of the copper sulfate solution to the 1-gallon sprayer.
6. Fill up the 1-gallon sprayer with water.
7. Shake the sprayer to ensure a good mixture.
8. Clean out the sprayer with water after you are done...Bordeaux Mixture leaves a residue that can easily clog up a sprayer.

Note: This recipe creates a 10-10-100 mixture. Some applications call for a 5-5-100 mixture, for that just put 1 cup of each solution into the sprayer instead of 2.

How to use Copper Sulfate to kill roots in the pipe and/or toilet:

We recommend pouring half a cup of Copper Sulfate in your toilet or pipe and flushing until all the Copper Sulfate is gone. It is more effective if you apply half a cup a day for several days till the pipes are completely open and all the roots are gone compared to applying a larger amount only once or twice.
